Resumen

In my paper, I would like to point out the current issue of understanding of man enhancement and the sacredness of human life on the background of relationship apprehension of science and religion, which play an important role in the life of society and the individual, but that may be misused in the name of some social ideology. Concretely, I want to focus on the description of some secret experiments in eugenics in the 20´s of the 20th century in the former Soviet Union, when science (and eugenics) was in opposition to religion and in the service of communist atheistic ideology and its main social utopia about the future of mankind. Such ideology required to create the new man scientifically, builder of communism and the new world order. It was also about enhancement of a man without respect for human dignity, without respect for life and its sacredness. At the same time, there is manifested a desire for immortality, which science should provide instead of religion. Soviet ideology has built its ideas only on the materialistic basis and Darwinism, while the religion and its assessment of life as a creation of God was considered as bourgeois ideology, which had to be removed, while the final decision should entirely be made by science.
