La religión como recurso fundacional para el quehacer científico

Abstract

After we recall some historical events in order to support the claim that religion has had a positive impact on science, we argue that science and religion are not comparable as modes of thought. In spite of this, in recent times, science has become an absolute value in detriment of other cultural factors, which formerly gave its directional sense. When external factors do not give incentives for the development of science, its performance is diminished. Serving as a factor for the formation of the ethical conscience of the laity, the Church is a resource that can give a directional sense to distinct cultural enterprises, and particularly to science.
