Vida Inteligente en el cosmos, ¿acontecimiento singular o múltiple?
Reflexión desde la interacción entre la ciencia y la teología
Keywords:
extraterrestrial intelligent, theology, exobiology, redemptionAbstract
The possible existence of extraterrestrial intelligent beings poses to theology a highly speculative reflection area. However, it challenges as well some essential aspects of the Christian faith as the Incarnation and the universal Redemption of Christ, in debate with astrophysics, anthropology or exobiology. It also brings up some interesting epistemological questions, namely whether if faith could on behalf of Revelation object the existence of extraterrestrial intelligent beings. We will first present a summary of the scientific status of this issue, to draw then a historical overview and outline the main theological positions to face these hypothetical beings. As a conclusion we will attempt a balance and a stance on the issues raised.
