Abstract

Religions are interpretive entities that offer answers to fundamental questions and provide a sense of identity and belonging to their members. Religious communities influence political life by promoting ethical values, participating in moral debates, and defending social causes. Despite the benefits that religions bring, their role is not without challenges. Tensions between religious groups and the need to balance individual beliefs with respect for diversity raise significant questions in the coexistence of a pluralistic society. Reflection and recognition of the complexity and interconnection between religions and contemporary society constitute a fundamental initial step to address the challenges that arise. In July 2023, the Directorate of Worship and Institutional Relations of the municipality of Lanús conducted a Survey on Interreligious Dialogue and Action, with the aim of deepening the understanding of interreligious dynamics in the local community.
