The second half of the twentieth century, within the framework of the Second Vatican Council and the postcouncil, has been the viewer of a serious attempt by the Church to make dialogue with science available. John Paul II, in a long and fruitful pontificate, was able to lead the Church into a new millennium of Christianity. The contribution of his Magisterium shed light on a wide variety of topics, including the need to promote dialogue between: faith, philosophy and science; always having man at the center of his concern and the consequent ethical perspective. Dialogue has not always been easy, not everyone was willing to dialogue, but there is no doubt that the Polish Pope opened furrows and sowed seeds that are still paying off. In order to recognize his contribution, synchronously and diacritically, I propose to distinguish three major stages of his life and concentrate on some specific issues that are more significant around the subject. The three great stages in which I subdivided his life are: the vey Polish period unique to the Jagellónica, its long pontificate around some fundamental moments and texts in relation to science, and the legacy that reaches to this day in the Magisterium of Pope Francis. As for the themes I have privileged are: the promotion of dialogue with philosophy and science, the link between creation and evolution, and the ecological theme.
